Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the global fight fans had expressed condolences for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
